MIA - Freebie

I have been missing in action... Besides getting ready for our annual 4th of July party I have been getting ready for our big trip. It is about 8 days away. Can't wait.

In the process of preparing for July 4th I am tring to make a family cookbook to give to guests. I gathered a bunch of family recipes after my Mom died. Always with the intention of sharing among family. So, I spent a lot of yesterday copying them to a recipe template I made.

I am sharing the 4x6 recipe card here with you as a QP of sorts.

Rainy Monday

Today was a rainy Monday. Rain and Mondays are never a good combination. How much do we like Mondays on a good day, on a rainy day, you just want to roll over and go back to sleep for like the whole day.

Instead I spent almost the whole day working on 2 layouts. The first one took some time because I was not feeling inspired. Eventually, it came together. I hope you like it.

As always - click on the preview to download. I do have both these layouts available in template form. Let me know if you are interested.

A template for you...

I had a qp I wanted to upload today, but apparently my computer does not want to cooperate. I can't seem to find any of the things I worked on today and when I go to recent documents they show up there, but Windows can't locate them. I don't think that is good news. I worked on several projects and layouts today, so I am a little upset by this. I have a feeling it has something to do with the drive I save my files to.

Anyway, not to let you all down, I did come across a template that my son designed on paper and I made in photoshop a while ago. I hope you like it.

Thanks!

Oh - it's Monday

Hope everyone had a nice weekend. It was nice here on Saturday. Sunday, not so much. We had fun though. We went out to brunch at the Top of the Hub in Boston. The view is awesome, even on a cloudy day. I have to go back when it is clear.

Well I have not done anything new as my son's baseball team is in the playoffs. So, my free time is a little on the short side. I did come across a qp I did for a challenge a couple of weeks ago. I hope you like it. Fits in with the playoff theme.

Tomorrow is Father's Day

Ahhh - tomorrow is Father's Day. A day I might add, I have not been looking forward to. You see this is the first year that I wil not have my Dad here to celebrate with. I didn't think it would be so hard. But as the day has approached I have found myself getting very sad.

You see I lost both of my parents within a 13 month period. My Mom died in September 2006 after a very brief battle with cancer. Then my Dad died from some sort of a heart incident, 13 months later. I could say he died of a broken heart. He was never quite the same after my Mom died.

The one issue I have is that we knew my Mom was dying, we were told as much. Therefore we made sure to spend as much time with her as we possibly could. We all spent time saying good-bye. She left knowing exactly how much we all cared.

My Dad was much more of a surprise, we did not have the same benefit of letting him know. Though I know in my heart he knew, I still wish I had one last chance to tell him. One last chance to thank him. It is a place in my heart that will never be fulfilled.

So my message to you all on this Father's Day - If your Dad is still here, give him a hug and kiss, and let him know how much you love him. You never know when it might be the last chance you get. This picture was taken 2 days before he was hospitalized. We, my sibling's and I, an Aunt and cousin, and all of our children, walked for the Hospice of the North Shore program. This was done in honor of my Mother, and in thanks to the people who took such good care of her. We raised about $5000.00. It was a great day, and in that way I think of it as my Father's swan song. We were all there, with him, honoring my Mom. This was the last time that many of us talked to my Dad and he could respond to us. Almost 3 weeks later, he would die after spending 2 1/2 weeks in a non-responsive state. I miss him terribly.

OK - I had to get that off my chest. It does help to write my feelings here. I hope I did not depress anyone too much.

I have a quick page that I created. I have posted the papers that match on my other blog http://blackcatgraphicsolutions.blogspot.com/, but I will put the link to the QP here.

Please leave a note if you download. I like hearing that people like my stuff. Thanks, I hope you enjoy.

Freebie Elements

Just popping in to leave you the elements to the cool crisp papers. I hope you liked the papers. I see that there wer quite a few downloads, but only one comment. I hope someone is liking them.
Anyway, it is a beautiful day today. Mid 70's and full sunshine. Hard to beat that. I am sitting here writing this, watching the sun go down and listening to the birds. Ahhh, paradise.

Hot Hot Hot

Today is very hot. My air conditioning at my house is down. Every year when we go to use it for the first time we find it does not work. You know why? Because a lovely mouse has decided to make it home over the winter. Usually that means eating through wires or tubes. We called the A/C guy only to find out he can't come until next Monday. I went by a bank today and their sign read 103 degrees farenheit. Some days it pays to work outside the house. My office building is air conditioned and they keep it nice and cold and I don't have to pay for it.

I worked on a kit yesterday that I call cool crisp (wish I felt that way). Here is a preview of the papers.

Keeping up...

I am back today to leave you with a freebie. I also have another site I think you might enjoy. A good friend of mine from Holland recommended I sign up for it. It is very similar to MySpace. I do find it a little easier to use. I was able to incorporate my blog right into my page. Go here to check out my page. http://mcook1966.hyves.nl/

I designed these papers and they came out looking like something from that 70's show. Hence the name. Have fun with them. I plan to do some elements and will try to upload them this weekend. Might have to wait until Monday since it is going to be warm and I can hear my pool calling. We shall see... Have a nice weekend.

What to do while waiting for Jury Duty

So I had to report for jury duty today. What it ends up to be is a bunch of waiting. What do you do while you are waiting...work on scrapbooking or something like that.

Every year we have a big 4th of July party. We started it when our kids were little because we didn't like to travel on the 4th. Turns out a lot of people were looking for a place to go on the 4th. We have a great turn out every year.

This is the invitation I designed to send out. I made a QP - feel free to use it for your invites. I used Nana's Attic papers and elements. Enjoy Click on preview to download.

Checking in

I am just checking in quickly to leave another freebie. It is a quickpage I did. The word art is Words to live by - by Doris Castle.

The preview is a picture of my 2 nephews getting ready to jump in my pool. We had such nice weather over Memorial Day weekend. I still wouldn't get in that water though. The temperature was only 55 degrees. But kids - apparently feel nothing.

I must run for now, I have jury duty and you must not be late for that. Hopefully I won't get picked.

Click on preview to download - don't forget the love.
